What constitutes Light Housekeeping?
We understand the need for people to feel relevant and capable as they age. Our Care Pros do not want to take away anyone’s independence; we want to take away the tasks that people don’t like to do anymore so they can have the energy to do the things they care about. Rather than using energy to change the sheets, we’d like to see people play with their grandchildren! Many older woman with dementia find comfort in housekeeping tasks like folding clothes and towels. It gives them a sense of purpose and worth. Some people like to do the laundry but can’t carry the basket because they are using a walker. Our Care Pros can assist with these tasks with the client. Of course, plenty of people are more than happy for us to take the entire burden of the household chores off of their plates completely. Everyone and every situation is unique and we treat each situation individually. Our Care Pros are not purely housekeepers and do not do deep cleaning or heavy lifting. Our Care Pros will keep precleaned areas tidy and sanitary in between the regular deep and thorough cleanings.
What are Household Management Services?
Very often people need assistance with the upkeep of a home especially an older home. Some older adults may not notice or even see household problems as they arise. Arranging and scheduling plumbers (because of that pesky drip), lawn maintenance (overgrown lawns can be a hazard) pest control (the older adult doesn’t hear the squirrel in the attic) and other workman are tasks that our Care Pros can oversee.
Organization can be overwhelming for people. Our Care Pros can routinely go through the kitchen pantry and refrigerator to throw away spoiled food. Our Care Pros can also help other little projects like cleaning out the junk drawer or moving plates and glasses to lower cabinets so they are easier to reach. Bringing in and organizing the mail can be daunting for some people. Our Care Pros can recognize and throw away junk mail as well as be on the lookout for potential mail fraud or scams. Simple computer assistance can be a blessing for a technically challenged older adult. Having a little assistance around the home can help keep an older adult safe, happy, independent and living in their home for a long time.
